Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
