Performer Rejects Anti-Vax Position Following Narrating Controversial Covid Feature
The acclaimed actor has lent his voice to a recent film that casts doubt on the safety of vaccinations and commends one-time cabinet secretary RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Foundation
Called "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a popular book published by Judy Mikovits, who became famous during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was linked to a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
Her writing partner, a producer, has penned books with controversial radio host Alex Jones. Heckenlively recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the documentary.
A Strong Rebuttal
The team of the actor have released a response firmly refuting implications that he holds anti-vax sentiments.
"We all understand that misconduct may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be equated to opposition to vaccines," the comment reads. "Liam never has been, and remains not, anti-vaccination. His long work with the global charity underscores his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
It noted that the star had no hand in the project's narrative and that inquiries about its content are best addressed to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Within the Documentary
As presented, the voiceover provided by Neeson features several strong points:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "unconditional submission" to public institutions.
- It declares that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is interviewed saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Background and Current Issues
It further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a correction by the broadcaster for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, RFK Jr instructed the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no connection between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the WHO reiterating no connection has been found.
A Previous Position of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's message, Neeson has previously expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he described vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the conclusion of our journey. It is the beginning of a new chapter."
