Severe Precipitation Aggravate Circumstances for Evacuated Palestinians in Gaza, Agencies Warn
Heavy precipitation over the last seven days have compounded the precarious living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by aid organizations.
"Awful" Night Brings Serious Risks
A representative detailed the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.
"Last night was truly terrible for the families. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so forceful," noted the official.
Officials express significant worry that young ones living in tents in damp attire will contract hypothermia and additional illnesses.
Casualties and Significant Destruction
Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses caused by the harsh conditions.
Additional accounts put a increased number of casualties. Spokespeople reported that multiple residential buildings had fully given way and scores had collapsed partially.

Relief Operations Considered Inadequate
Groups have stepped up deliveries of shelter, blankets and clothes since the truce began, but they have said there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.
"Agencies are operating tirelessly to provide that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the needs is so immense that we still have many thousands of people and minors who are truly struggling nightly," cautioned one spokesperson.

The second phase of the ceasefire involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other provisions.
Aid bodies have stressed the need for "greater and continuous aid to respond to pressing and ongoing requirements."
The conflict was sparked by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Later campaigns have led to a high number of fatalities in the territory, based on official data.
