Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this game will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

A family member told me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had much fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have got plenty of talent in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
