Two Victims Named in Brown University Shooting as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the recent violent attack at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their killer persisted following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, the group said. The White House press secretary also expressed words of sorrow on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were wounded in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a police operation at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause new worry for our community”.

The gunman opened fire inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the Associated Press.

Police that entered the inn recovered two firearms and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was detained, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was discharged from care, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a message. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his bright future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US college with about over seven thousand undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 mass shootings documented across the United States so far in this year, according to data. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
